One fine evening I am sitting with my brother and cousin and we were having
a chat in the living room, then comes my nephew who is around 3 years old showing
us his school bag as the next morning he will start attending his
pre-schooling. While we were adoring the moment of my nephew’s interest for
going to school tomorrow my brother intervene and says that this is his last day
of joy and tomorrow’s dawn bring him something which he will have to face
throughout his entire life and that is “Struggle”.
I was sitting next to my brother and his words strikes in my mind and I suddenly start thinking is it really true that this 3 year old boy has no life left from tomorrow on-wards as he first needs to study hard to get admitted in high school and then have to study even more harder to attain professional recognizable education, then finding a good job then marriage then children’s and then their needs, then car and house, then big car and big house and so on as the list has no full stop in it till the struggler dies in pursuit of achieving these self-created milestones.
I don’t want to agree more but this is actually what the bitter truth is, people actually caught up in the race of being successful and being successful means being rich nowadays. Is this the purpose of life? Is there no life without a million bucks in account? Is life ends without a car and a luxury bungalow?
Analyzing the fact, it seems like that acquiring wealth has now turn out to be the purpose of life and to accomplish this purpose one’s puts all his time, efforts and energy towards this direction thus automatically leaving everything behind, families, friends, love ones, values, conscience and many other things of emotional importance which actually brings happiness in one’s life. Is it really required? Let’s say if one achieved that purpose then what? Has he able to celebrate this happiness with his parent who were old at the time when he starts his struggle for being rich? Has he shared this happiness with his relatives or loved ones whom he left behind? Has he able to buy that time when his children requires him most? Definitely NOT, wealth can never be the alternative of happiness like smile of parents, love of family, children’s association and so on.
I can say it confidently that wealth have some importance in life but is definitely not one could die chasing, this is not the purpose of life. I rather prefer spending quality time with family and friends instead of making fortunes – these times are priceless and makes me happy. It’s not very difficult to understand that happiness is a choice, yet so many of us are unhappy all the times because we often choose something else over happiness.
Remember, we don’t live forever. We must make an effort to appreciate what we have, people who loves and care us, because we’ll never know how much they mean to us until the day they are no longer besides you. Spend lots of quality time with the people you love. Someday you will either regret not doing so, or you will say, “I am glad I did”.
